Tug of war is a non contact sport where every member of the team is equal. It is a sport where the team work is more important than any one individual. All that’s needed is a rope and runners or football boots. It can be pulled indoors in a sports hall or outside on the grass.
The Irish Tug of War Association are running a development project with schools around the country, co-ordinated by Cathy O’ Toole and tieing in with the Active School Flag initiative as well as Local Sports Parnerships like the Cork Sports Partnership. Development officers are calling to schools and giving a demonstration to students. Participating schools receive a free junior tug of war rope to keep.
If you are working for a school who is interested in taking part in this program, you can contact Cathy at: firstname.lastname@example.org or 086 3713869
We would like to thank Andrew Clarke and Pro-Tug for their support in implementing this program.
